Humble Math - 100 Days of Decimals, Percents & Fractions

Book Description

100 days of practice problems for decimals, percents, and fractions. This is not an entry level book. Students will need basic understanding of what fractions and decimals are. This book focuses on converting between fractions, decimals, and percentages. It also teaches students how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide decimals and fractions. It's a great resource for upper elementary, middle school, and early high school students (KS2, KS3).

Fractions, Tilings, and Geometry

Book Description

Designed for precollege teachers by a collaborative of teachers, educators, and mathematicians, Fractions, Tilings, and Geometry is based on a course offered in the Summer School Teacher Program at the Park City Mathematics Institute. The overall goal of the course is an introduction to non-periodic tilings in two dimensions and space-filling polyhedra. While the course does not address quasicrystals, it provides the underlying mathematics that is used in their study. Because of this goal, the course explores Penrose tilings, the irrationality of the golden ratio, the connections between tessellations and packing problems, and Voronoi diagrams in 2 and 3 dimensions. These topics all connect to precollege mathematics, either as core ideas (irrational numbers) or enrichment for standard topics in geometry (polygons, angles, and constructions). But this book isn't a “course” in the traditional sense. It consists of a carefully sequenced collection of problem sets designed to develop several interconnected mathematical themes. These materials provide participants with the opportunity for authentic mathematical discovery—participants build mathematical structures by investigating patterns, use reasoning to test and formalize their ideas, offer and negotiate mathematical definitions, and apply their theories and mathematical machinery to solve problems. Fractions, Tilings, and Geometry is a volume of the book series “IAS/PCMI—The Teacher Program Series” published by the American Mathematical Society. Each volume in this series covers the content of one Summer School Teacher Program year and is independent of the rest.

Humble Math - 100 Days of Timed Tests

Book Description

100 days of multiplication problems. Discover the difference a couple minutes of practice can make. These are reproducible practice sheets to help students learn their multiplication facts and recall them with fluidity. This book focuses on digits 0-12. An answer key is included in the back of this book, so students can easily check their own work.

Multiplying Fractions

Book Description

Grade Level: 3-6 CCSS Level: 4-6 Making fractions make sense! This 23-lesson learning unit is packed with hundreds of sequential fraction activities featuring both computation and word problems. As the third book in a series – following Adding Fractions and Subtracting Fractions – these exercises are designed to build upon what students have already learned. From “writing reciprocals of fractions, whole numbers, and mixed numbers,” to “multiplying a proper fraction by a proper fraction,” and on to “using a banana bread recipe to multiply fractions,” the activities in this book progress from learning basic concepts to mastering an understanding of how to multiply fractions. A Post Test and Answer Key are included.

Advanced Fractions

Book Description

Higher level skills with addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of fractions. Practice, review, and testing included.

Fractions in Disguise

Book Description

Equal parts action and humor add up to a wholly entertaining introduction to simplifying fractions, in this one-of-a-kind math picture book story. When a valuable fraction goes missing, George Cornelius Factor (a.k.a. GCF) vows to track it down. Knowing that the villainous Dr. Brok likes to disguise his ill-gotten fractions, G.C.F. invents a Reducer—half ray gun, half calculator— that strips away the disguise, reducing the fraction to its lowest common denominator and revealing its true form. With the Reducer in hand, George seeks out Dr. Brok in hopes of retrieving the missing fraction. David Clark’s illustrations are packed with humorous details as well as clearly defined fractions and their corresponding reduction equations.
