This project dissertation is written in the theological disciplines of church health and church growth. The purpose is to implement a church health process at the First Baptist Church of Plum Grove, Texas by training selected leaders in church renewal and church reconciliation, and develop an ongoing strategic health team. The method of training used was introduced through the Church Health Survey, a program developed by the Lawless Group. This project will use the combined Associational Church Health and Church Growth training tools which the candidate has written, borrowed and adapted from numerous sources.. The process includes the training of selected leaders who are assisting the pastor in restoring the unity of the body and enhancing the missions, evangelism and discipleship ministries of the church. The outcomes are for the church to resolve unity issues, become externally-focused, help a Hispanic congregation flourish in Splendora and have a Church Health Team to assist the pastor in revitalization.




Equipping Selected Leaders and Members of the Tower View Baptist Church to Initiate a Revitalization Covenant with a Declining Congregation

The vast majority of churches in America have either hit a plateau or are declining. Though denominations, districts, associations and parachurch organizations have invested many resources to turn the tide, the percentage of churches in crisis continues to increase. The purpose of this Doctor of Ministry Project is to train selected leaders and members of Tower View Baptist Church to initiate a revitalization covenant with a declining church. Trained laity from a healthy church can bring hope, perspective, and leadership to a declining church. Lay persons bring to a revitalization process what "trained professionals" cannot provide. Following an extensive training process, the lay leadership will coordinate a reflection and revitalization weekend with a declining church. The weekend is designed to bring the church in decline to a place of commitment from which they can begin taking steps toward health and revitalization.

The purpose of the project was to promote ministry urgency at a church progressing toward revitalization by developing and implementing a strategy for sustainability. The project involved the training of selected leaders in an equipping process consisting of eight sessions and two sermons. The project objective included the development of an implementation strategy designed to serve as the training curriculum in revitalization sustainability.










Enlisting and Training Select Leaders of Living Hope Baptist Church, Coconut Creek, Florida, to Implement Small Discipleship Groups

The purpose of his project is to enlist and train select leaders of Living Hope Baptist Church to implement small discipleship groups. Twelve sessions were designed to equip participants in the foundations and dynamics involved in small group discipleship ministry. Although a course workbook was utilized for teaching purposes, six of the sessions included modeling an actual small group experience. Through the enlisting and training of select leaders, one can expect to see increased participation taking place among the congregants, leading to a healthier church who finds herself "equipped for every good work" (2 Timothy 3:17).
