Aircraft Noise Study for the 1995 Realignment of Navy F/A-18 Aircraft

Book Description

Naval Facilities Engineering Command conducts aircraft noise surveys at various Naval and Marine Corps Air Stations and associated facilities throughout the U.S. and overseas. The noise exposure contours developed during these studies are incorporated into Air Installation Compatible Use Zone or the environmental documents These environmental documents are, in turn, used to promote the compatibility of Navy and marine Corps activities with neighboring land uses.

Aircraft Noise Study

Book Description

"This report describes the aircraft noise environment in the communities surrounding NAS Alameda, California. Both Composite Noise Rating (CNR) and Community Noise Equivalent Level (CNEL) analyses are presented for the Naval Air Station operations. CNR contours from Metropolitan Oakland International (OAK) and San Francisco International (SFO) airports' operations are superimposed over the study area to assess the contribution of each to the total noise environment. Other aircraft noise methods are discussed, Bay Area air operations pertaining to the study area are explained, complaint records and locations are presented, and architectural acoustic treatment is suggested. Additionally, data from thirty days' continuous monitoring at two locations are presented." Abstract.
