An Analysis of the US Distribution System in Secondary Manufactured Wood Products

Book Description

The first section of this report presents a literature review on the distribution of secondary wood products in the United States, with information on the institutional framework (government programs, trade barriers, standards), marketing and distribution for export (direct and indirect exporting, types of distribution chains, selection of a distributor and/or agent), and the marketing and distribution of wood products. Section II contains results of interviews with British Columbia companies that have had some success in exporting to the US market. The research focused on the following business types: re-manufacturing, millwork, furniture, and furniture components. Comments and insights are included on market characteristics, institutional factors, marketing and distribution, future changes, and implications for British Columbia producers.
