An Historical and Genealogical Account of Andrew Robeson, of Scotland, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and of His Descendants, From 1653 to 1916 (Classic Reprint)

Book Description

Excerpt from An Historical and Genealogical Account of Andrew Robeson, of Scotland, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and of His Descendants, From 1653 to 1916 We have endeavored to give whatever of interest was possible in connection with the families of each branch, feeling that this was, in a measure, a message from one family to another, Who, though closely connected by family ties, may not have heard from one another for many years, and believe that each Will be interested to know of the present surroundings and learn of the past history of their kinsmen. Personal sketches have seemed the most unsatisfactory portion of this work; while it has been possible to portray the nature and character of the services rendered by many, in the work of the world, there are others, among the descendants, Whose lives have been equally worthy of consideration but of whose personal history the writer has not been informed, though it may have commanded the honor and approval of all in their vicinity; little has been said in some instances, because further information could not be procured, in other cases a fuller sketch was possible, as the sources of information were easy of access, and well known to the writer. Sketches given are all from authentic sources. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. The Descendants of John Thomson, Pioneer Scotch Covenanter

Book Description

Excerpt from The Descendants of John Thomson, Pioneer Scotch Covenanter: Genealogical Notes on All Known Descendants of John Thomson, Covenanter, of Scotland, Ireland and Pennsylvania, With Such Biographical Sketches as Could Be Obtained From Available Published Records In no way can one obtain a better idea of the character of the records it was originally hoped would be included in the present book than by reading carefully the following instructions which were sent to every descendant of Pioneer John Thomson whose address was known, on at least two occasions, namely, when the work of compilation was first started in 1912, and after the records then on hand were placed in type in 1916. The information we wish to obtain on the family tree, arranged in the order of importance, is as follows: first - The Full home (not merely initials) of every, descendant of the Pioneer, the Full Name of the person married in each case, and the Full Name of each child born to every couple. Second - The Dates of all births, marriages and deaths. Third - The Present Address of every living descendant. Fourth - The Place of birth, marriage and death of every descendant. Genealogical and Biographical Sketch of the Name and Family of Richardson

Book Description

Excerpt from Genealogical and Biographical Sketch of the Name and Family of Richardson: From the Year 1720 to the Year 1860 In collecting information relative to the Richardson Family, I have in several instances continued the names of the children, even after they have been lost in marriage. This has been done because Mr. Richardson, the ancestor, having arrived in this country only one hundred and thirty years ago, has not now many descendants bearing his own name; having had but five grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. In my investigations, have not been actuated by any foolish pride to show a descent from some titled personage of the Old World, but only to collect true facts. It has been always a source of regret that information was not gained from Mr. Jeffrey Richardson, who died in 1805, relating to his ancestors, but such were the busy and stirring scenes of that period of our country, that little attention was given to pedigree and ancestry.
