The fed. gov't. assumes insurance risk for a wide range of activities & administered by a variety of fed. org. For some activities, such as those funded through the Nat. Flood Insurance account, the fed. gov't. assumes the entire insurance risk. The fed. gov't. also assumes part of the risk for insurance activities that are admin. by state & local gov'ts. -- for ex., those funded through the Unemployment Trust Fund or that are partly underwritten by private insurers, such as those funded through the Special Workers' Compensation Expenses account. This report: (1) provides criteria for identifying fed. insurance activities; & (2) describes fed. insurance activities that meet these criteria. Charts & tables.
