B Spectroscopy at Tevatron

Book Description

Recent results on heavy flavor spectroscopy from the CDF and D0 experiments are reported in this contribution. Using up to 1 fb{sup -1} of accumulated luminosity per experiment, properties of X(3872), excited B** states, and the B{sub c} meson are measured. Also included are measurements of production rates for ground state b hadrons in p{bar p} collisions.

Recent Results on B Spectroscopy at the Tevatron

Book Description

The Tevatron collider at Fermilab provides a rich environment for B spectroscopy. Recently the first direct observation of the B{sub c} meson has reduced its mass uncertainty by two orders of magnitude. A search for [eta]{sub b} mesons provides the best limit on its production in p{bar p} colliders. In studies on orbitally excited B{sub d} mesons for the first time the narrow states could be separated from each other. The orbitally excited B{sub s} mesons have been observed for the first time. With the charged [Sigma]{sub b}{sup (*)} a second B baryon could be established beside the [Lambda]{sub b}.

Spectroscopy and Decay of B Hadrons at the Tevatron

Book Description

The authors review recent results on heavy quark physics focusing on Run II measurements of B hadron spectroscopy and decay at the Tevatron. A wealth of new B physics measurements from CDF and D0 has been available. These include the spectroscopy of excited B states (B**, B**{sub s}) and the observation of the [Sigma]{sub b} baryon. The discussion of the decays of B hadrons and measurements of branching fractions focuses on charmless two-body decays of B 2!hh−. They report several new B{sub s}° and [Lambda]{sub b}° decay channels.

Baryon Spectroscopy Results at the Tevatron

Book Description

The Tevatron at Fermilab continues to collect data at high luminosity resulting in datasets in excess of 6 fb−1 of integrated luminosity. The high collision energies allow for the observation of new heavy quark baryon states not currently accessible at any other facility. In addition to the ground state [Lambda]{sub b}, the spectroscopy and properties of the new heavy baryon states [Omega]{sub b}, [Xi]{sub b}, and [Sigma]{sub b}{sup (*)} as measured by the CDF and D0 Collaborations are presented.

D and B Meson Spectroscopy, New States, Baryons at the Tevatron

Book Description

We review recent results in heavy quark hadron spectroscopy at the Tevatron. With increasing data samples, the Tevatron experiments start to uncover information on the spectroscopy of b-hadrons. Most important are the first observations of the narrow B**{sub s}° as well as [Sigma]{sub b}{sup {+-}}, [Sigma]*{sub b}{sup {+-}} and [Xi]{sub b}− baryons. In addition we present updated results on the narrow B**° and B{sub c} mesons.

B(c) and Excited B States

Book Description

In this paper recent results from the CDF and D0 experiments on heavy flavor spectroscopy are reported. Both experiments are using up to 1.1 fb{sup -1} of data delivered by the Tevatron proton-antiproton collider at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, Batavia, IL, USA. The CDF and D0 detectors are described in references [1,2].

B Physics at the Tevatron

Book Description

A vibrant B physics program is being pursued at the Tevatron for Run II using the upgraded accelerator complex and the upgraded CDF and D0 detectors with the goal of collecting 2 fb−1 of integrated luminosity. This will provide measurements of various CP parameters which both complement and extend the programs at the B factories. There are also a variety of spectroscopy measurements currently available only at the Tevatron. The detectors are now largely commissioned and data acquisition is underway.

Heavy Hadron Spectroscopy and Production at Tevatron

Book Description

Using data from p{bar p} collisions at √s = 1.96 TeV recorded by the CDFII and D0 detectors at the Fermilab Tevatron, we present recent results on charm and bottom hadrons. The most recent CDF results on properties of the four bottom baryon resonant states [Sigma]{sub b}{sup (*)-}, [Sigma]{sub b}{sup (*)+}. New results on exotic [Upsilon](4140) state observed by CDF are also reported. A precise measurement of production rates of the lowest lying bottom baryon, [Lambda]{sub b}°, produced in the D0 detector is presented.

The Search for Physics Beyond the Standard Model in the $B \bar{B}$ Spectrum Observed in Tevatron $p\bar{p}$ Collisions

Book Description

Many extensions have been proposed to the Standard Model of fundamental particles and interactions, therefore we have conducted a general search with the Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF) for particles which would be expected to appear as a resonance in the b$\bar{b}$ mass spectrum produced in proton-antiproton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of √s = 1.8 TeV at the Fermilab Tevatron collider.

BTeV - A Dedicated B Experiment at the Tevatron

Book Description

BTeV is a dedicated b-physics experiment that is expected to begin operation at the Fermilab Tevatron in 2008. BTeV is designed to take full advantage of the large production cross section of b particles (including B{sub S}) in high energy hadron collisions. A quick description of the BTeV spectrometer is given in this paper. Two unique aspects of BTeV, the pixel-based trigger and the high quality lead tungstate electromagnetic calorimeter, are described in slightly greater detail.
