Book Description
As music educators, we understand the positive impact music can have on any individual. Discriminating who can and who can't receive music education due to a special need is inadmissible. Due to the rising number of individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, the chances of having a student with ASD in a piano studio is high. Most private piano instructors are not trained in teaching children with special needs and can be hesitant to accept these students into their studio. Through research and experience, I have collected information that can be used by piano teachers. With these guidelines and background history of ASD, piano teachers can feel more comfortable and willing to teach students with ASD and perhaps other special needs.
