Razorhurst

Book Description

"Vivid and bloody and bold and fast—I feel like Razorhurst is in my bones now." —#1 New York Times bestselling author Elizabeth Gilbert The notoriously bloody history of a mob-run Sydney, Australia neighborhood is fertile ground for this historical thriller with a paranormal twist: two girls' ability to see the many ghosts haunting Razorhurst. Sydney’s deadly Razorhurst neighborhood, 1932. Gloriana Nelson and Mr. Davidson, two ruthless mob bosses, have reached a fragile peace—one maintained by “razor men.” Kelpie, orphaned and homeless, is blessed (and cursed) with the ability to see Razorhurst’s many ghosts. They tell secrets that the living can’t know about the cracks already forming in the mobs’ truce. Kelpie meets Dymphna Campbell, Gloriana’s prize moll, over the body of the latest of Dymphna’s beaus to meet an untimely end—a string that’s earned her the nickname the “Angel of Death.” Dymphna can see ghosts, too, and she knows that Gloriana’s hold is crumbling one henchman at a time. As loyalties shift and betrayal threatens the two girls at every turn, Dymphna is determined to rise to the top with Kelpie at her side.

This Could Be Your Future

Book Description

This is a book of a hundred stories and life lessons: crazy; beautiful; very serious. It is of a golden life and nine near-death encounters, moving between remote camps amidst poor indigenous folk, the salt of the Earth, and the glossy skyscrapers of our cities. Mineral exploration is a strange game. It is highest technology, big dollars, outback people and their aspirations, wonderful places, and flies, dirt, mud, budget cuts and enduring friendships. Remote projects keep explorers abroad in this beautiful world, but far from families. You have time and yearning on your hands, time to think and dream. When you reach executive ranks, you deal in public ideologies about mining, government and NGOs at all levels, billions of dollars, and changing whole regions around great mines for better more than for worse. This is the easily-written story of man and manager, major public policies, and many good folk across the world. Conflict Overhead

Book Description

The main character in the book is Gordon William Grey, a young man from Australia who was raised in the bush. It’s the 1930s, and his love for flying takes him to Victoria, where he joins the RAAF. Circumstances then take him and a group of RAAF pilots to England. Great Britain’s Fighter Command does not fall for Hitler’s political rhetoric of peace. They believe a war is imminent. As a result, RAAF Flight Lieutenant Gordon Grey and his Australian contingent are retained and must join the RAF as fighter pilots. In the theatre of war, all sensations are accentuated. Fear, happiness, pain, love, heartbreak, and hate, and in this story, all those experiences materialise.
