Branching Fractions in B -] Phi H and Search for Direct CP Violation in B+ -] Phi K

Book Description

The authors present preliminary measurements of branching fractions of the b 2!s{bar s}s penguin-dominated decays B{sup ±} 2![phi]K{sup ±} and B° 2![phi]K° in a sample of approximately 89 million B{bar B} pairs collected by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B-meson Factor at SLAC. They determine [Beta](B{sup ±} 2![phi]K{sup ±}) = (10.0{sub -0.8}{sup +0.9}(stat.) {+-} 0.5(syst.)) x 10−6 and [Beta](B° 2![phi]K°) = (7.6{sub -1.2}{sup +1.3}(stat.) {+-} 0.5(syst.)) x 10−6. Additionally, they measure the charge asymmetry [Alpha]{sub CP}(B{sup {+-}} 2![phi]K{sup {+-}}) = 0.039 {+-} 0.086(stat.) {+-} 0.011(syst.) and set an upper limit on the CKM- and color-suppressed decay B{sup {+-}} 2![phi][pi]{sup {+-}}, [Beta](B{sup {+-}} 2![phi][pi]{sup {+-}})

RARE B DECAYS AND DIRECT CP VIOLATION AT BABAR.

Book Description

The search for rare B decays and direct CF violation at BABAR is described. The following measurements (based on integrated luminosities ranging from 56.4 to 81.9 fb[sup -1]) are summarized: the inclusive branching fractions and direct CF asymmetries of B[sup+][yields] h[sup+]h[sup -]H[sup+] (h=[pi], K), the exclusive branching fractions of B[sup+][yields] K[sup+][pi][sup -][pi][sup+] (where significant signals are observed in the B[sup+][yields] K*[sup 0](892)[pi][sup+], B[sup+][yields] f[sub 0](98)K[sup+], B[sup+][yields][chi][sub c0]K[sup+], B[sup+][yields][bar D][sup 0][pi][sup+] and B[sup+][yields] higher K*[sup 0][pi][sup+] channels), the branching fractions of B[sup+][yields][rho][sup 0][rho][sup+] and B[sup+][yields][rho][sup 0] K*[sup+], and finally, the branching fractions, the longitudinal components, and the direct CF asymmetries in B[yields][phi]K*.

Measurements of Branching Fractions, Polarizations, and Direct CP-violation Asymmetries in B -] Rho0 K* and B -] F0(980) K* Decays

Book Description

We present measurements of the branching fractions, longitudinal polarization, and direct CP-violation asymmetries for the decays B →?°K*+ and B+ f0(980)K*+ with a sample of (467 ± 5) x 106 B{bar B} pairs collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e+e− collider at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. We observe B+ →?°K*+ with a significance of 5.3? and measure the branching fraction?(B+ →?°K*+) = (4.6 ± 1.0 ± 0.4) x 10−6, the longitudinal polarization f{sub L} = 0.78 ± 0.12 ± 0.03, and the CP-violation asymmetry A{sub CP} = 0.31 ± 0.13 ± 0.03. We observe B+ → f0(980)K*+ and measure the branching fraction?(B+ → f0(980)K*+) x?(f0(980) →?+?−) = (4.2 ± 0.6 ± 0.3) x 10−6 and the CP-violation asymmetry A{sub CP} = -0.15 ± 0.12 ± 0.03. The first uncertainty quoted is statistical and the second is systematic.

Branching Fractions and Direct CP Violation in B -] PP(PV) Decays

Book Description

I present the results of searches for B meson decays into two charmless mesons. I take into account final states made up of two pseudo-scalar (PP) or one pseudo-scalar and one vector (PV). The measurements use the data samples collected and analyzed by the B-factory experiments at the [Upsilon](4S) resonance energy: BABAR, Belle and CLEO.

Measurement of Branching Fractions and CP-Violating Asymmetries in B -] Rho+/-h-/

Book Description

We present measurements of branching fractions and CP-violating asymmetries in B° 2![rho]{sup ±}[pi]{sup {-+}} and B° 2![rho]−K decays. The results are obtained from a data sample of 88.9 x 106 [Upsilon](4S) 2!B{bar B} decays collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B Factory at SLAC. From a time-dependent maximum likelihood fit we measure the charge-averaged branching fractions [Beta](B° 2![rho]{sup ±}[pi]{sup {-+}}) = (22.6 ± 1.8 (stat) ± 2.2 (syst)) x 10−6 and [Beta](B° 2![rho]−K) = (7.3{sub -1.2}{sup +1.3} ± 1.3) x 10−6; and the CP-violating charge asymmetries A{sub CP}{sup {rho}[pi]} = -0.18 ± 0.08 ± 0.03 and A{sub CP}{sup {rho}K} = 0.28 ± 0.17 ± 0.08; the direct CP violation parameter C{sub {rho}[pi]} = 0.36 ± 0.18 ± 0.04 and the mixing-induced CP violation parameter S{sub {rho}[pi]} = 0.19 ± 0.24 ± 0.03; and the dilution parameters [Delta]C{sub {rho}[pi]} = 0.28{sub -0.19}{sup +0.18} ± 0.04 and [Delta]S{sub {rho}[pi]} = 0.15 {+-} 0.25 {+-} 0.03.
