Book Description

John Carter was born in Maine in 1782. In 1805 he married Hannah Knight Libby and they had 11 children. They joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and after the death of Joseph Smith, Hannah and many of her descendants came with the Saints to Utah. John remained in Illinois with a few of his family until his death in 1852. Most of his descendants who came to Utah settled in Provo and information on many of these individuals is included in this volume. Descendants live throughout Utah, and the western states. Most are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Book Description

Biography of William Furlsbury Carter, Sr. (1811-1888), son of John Carter and Hannah Knight Libby. He married Sarah York in 1831 in Bethel, Oxford County, Maine. They joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1834, and moved to Ohio, then Illinois, and in 1851 to Salt Lake City, Utah. In 1852 they moved to Provo, Utah and later to Santaquin, Utah.

Lt. William Pratt ( -1678), was the son of Rev. William Pratt and Elizabeth. He married Elizabeth Clark in 1636 and they had eight children. He was the first settler in America in this line. He went to Newton (now Cambridge) Mass. in 1633 and then to Hartford, Conn. Where he helped develop the town as one of the original proprietors, or settlers of Hartord, Conn.
