Book Description

Excerpt from A Handbook to the Coinage of Scotland: Giving a Description of Every Variety Issued by the Scottish Mint in Gold, Silver, Billon, and Copper, From Alexander I. In my subdivision into coinages I have mainly adopted the arrangement of Lindsay and Wingate, modifying it to suit the alterations prescribed by the records. I have therefore recognized as distinct issues many changes of type which are not noticed in those documents.
