Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the original artefact. First published in 1882 in an edition of 134 pages listing 1000 titles, and revised and expanded in 1886 to 450 pages listing 4000 titles. This second edition is considerably enlarged by acquisitions at the Beckford, Hamilton, Ellis, and Woodhull sales as well as from the shelves of Quaritch and Ellis. This is an interesting private library catalogue consisting of antiquarian books on discovery, travel, and colonization. There are over 6000 volumes including many of the great rarities.The catalogue provides listing in order of their date and classified according to countries. The work is especially useful in providing detailed information of the printed collected voyages of Hakluyt, DeBry, Rasmusio, Purchas, Churchill, Harris and others. A complete content list of all the works contained in each of these collections is provided. Besterman 2638.
