This volume comprises all the cemetery records originally published in the fifteen volumes of The "Old Northwest" Genealogical Quarterly between 1898 and 1912. It consists principally of tombstone inscriptions from cemeteries in the following counties in northeastern and central Ohio: Athens, Delaware, Fairfield, Franklin (including the city of Columbus), Geauga, Guernsey, Jackson, Knox, Licking, Lorain, Madison, Pickaway, Portage, Ross, Trumbull, and Vinton.

Hans Georg Bender, son of Hans Heinrich Bender and Elizabeth Nissley, was born 29 Dec 1699 in Wurttemberg, Rhineland, Pfalz. He married Kathrina Hostetter, daughter of Michael Hostetter and Elizabeth Neff, on 11 Oct 1720. Kathrina was born 11 July 1701. They immigrated to Pennsylvania in 1732. They had 6 children. Kathrina died 10 Dec 1740 at Mount Joy Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Hans married Magdalena Frederick, daughter of Abraham Frederick, on 15 Oct 1741. They had 4 children. Hans died 15 Jan 1767 in Donegal Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. His descendants have lived in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Wisconsin, Iowa, Indiana, and other areas in the United States.

Joseph Childers was born in about 1740. His son, James Childers, was born in about 1785, probably in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. He married Mary Anderson in about 1806. They had eight children. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Ohio, Illinois, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma.

John Russell Hamilton was born 28 January 1891 in Ridgedale, West Virginia. His parents were Isaac Hamilton (1859-1944) and Annie Elizabeth Zinn (1862-1948). His grandparents were James Hamilton, Nancy Bixler, Saylor M. Zinn and Mahala Brown. He married Sara Royer in 1912 and they had two children. He married Bonnie Aline Smith in 1923. They had two children. Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived mainly in West Virginia. Maryland, Pennsylvania and Switzerland.
