Chloroprene Production from Acetylene - Cost Analysis - Chloroprene E21A

Book Description

This report presents a cost analysis of Chloroprene production from acetylene and hydrochloric acid. In the process examined, acetylene is dimerized to monovinyl acetylene (MVA), which is then reacted with hydrogen chloride to generate a chloroallene intermediate. Finally the chloroallene is rearranged to Chloroprene. This report was developed based essentially on the following reference(s): Keywords: Neoprene, Chloroprene Rubber, Monovinylacetylene, MVA, 2-Chlorobuta-1,3-Diene

Polychloroprene Production - Cost Analysis - CR E21A

Book Description

This report presents a cost analysis of Chloroprene Rubber (also known as Polychloroprene) production from butadiene and chlorine. 'The process examined is a typical vapor phase butadiene chlorination process, followed by a typical emulsion polymerization process. In this process butadiene is first chlorinated producing two chlorinated isomers, 1,4-dichloro 2-butene and 3,4-dichloro 1-butene. In a second step, 1,4-isomers are isomerized to 3,4-dichloro 1-butene. This chemical is then dehydrochlorinated in the presence of caustic soda producing chloroprene and sodium chloride. Finally, chloroprene is polymerized to form Polychloroprene. This report was developed based essentially on the following reference(s): (1) "Chloroprene", Kirk-Othmer Encyclopedia of Chemical Technology, 5th edition (2) "Polychloroprene", Kirk-Othmer Encyclopedia of Chemical Technology, 5th edition Keywords: Dupont, Chloroprene Rubber, Neoprene, Chlorination, Neoprene, Chloroprene Rubber, 2-Chlorobuta-1,3-Diene, Synthetic Rubbers

Acetylene Production from Coal - Cost Analysis - Acetylene E21A

Book Description

This report presents a cost analysis of Acetylene production from coal via a typical calcium carbide process. In this process calcium oxide (lime) is reduced by carbon in a electric furnace, generating calcium carbide. This intermediate is then hydrolyzed to produce Acetylene and calcium hydroxide. This report was developed based essentially on the following reference(s): Keywords: Coke, Carbon, Electric Furnace

Vinyl Acetate from Acetic Acid and Acetylene - Cost Analysis - VAM E21A

Book Description

This report presents a cost analysis of Vinyl Acetate Monomer (VAM) from acetic acid and acetylene. In the process examined, acetic acid and acetylene react in the vapor phase in the presence of a supported metal catalyst to produce vinyl acetate. This report was developed based essentially on the following reference(s): (1) "Vinyl Esters," Ullmann's Encyclopedia of Industrial Chemistry, 7th edition (2) US Patent 3415872, issued to Blaw Knox in 1968 Keywords: Ethenyl Acetate, Ethanoic Acid, Acetylene, Wacker

Chlorine Production from Hydrogen Chloride - Cost Analysis - Chlorine E21A

Book Description

This report presents a cost analysis of secondary Chlorine production from hydrogen chloride. The process examined is similar to the Kel-Chlor process, proprietary technology based on the Deacon process. In this process, anhydrous hydrogen chloride is subjected to an oxidation reaction in the presence of catalysts producing Chlorine. This report was developed based essentially on the following reference(s): Keywords: Secondary chlorine, hydrogen chloride waste treatment, HCl, cholrine recovery

Vinyl Chloride Production from Ethane and Chlorine - Cost Analysis - VCM E21A

Book Description

This report presents a cost analysis of Vinyl Chloride production directly from ethane and chlorine. The process examined is similar to that developed by European Vinyls Corporation, now owned by INEOS. This process is still in its early development stage, but it has already been tested on a pilot scale plant. This report was developed based essentially on the following reference(s): Keywords: Chloroethene, 1,2-Dichloroethane, European Vinyls Corporation, EVC, INEOS, Ethane-To-VCM

Cumene Production Process - Cost Analysis - Cumene E21A

Phenylchlorosilanes Production Process - Cost Analysis - Chlorosilanes E21A

Book Description

This report presents a cost analysis of Phenylmethyldichlorosilanes production from benzenes and hydrosilanes. In this batch process, benzene and methyldichlorosilane are mixed with a boron trichloride solution - which works as catalyst for the reaction.
