Clarinet Quintet K. 581

Book Description

Clarinet Quintet in a K581 (Arranged in B Flat for Clarinet in B Flat and Piano)

Book Description

Mozart originally composed his Clarinet Quintet K581 for his friend Anton Stadler who promoted the recently-developed 'basset clarinet' pitched in A. The work has since been adopted by performers on the more standard soprano clarinet. This edition makes available the work to performers who do not own an A clarinet and wish to perform it on the more common B-flat instrument. The piano accompaniment is transposed to B-flat major (from the orginal A major) and the clarinettist plays from the same music as if for the A clarinet (ensuring smooth progression to that instrument if subsequently acquired)
