Computer Program for Preliminary Design Analysis of Axial-flow Turbines

Book Description

The program method is based on a mean-diameter flow analysis. Input design requirements include power or pressure ratio, flow, temperature, pressure, and speed. Turbine designs are generated for any specified number of stages and for any of three types of velocity diagrams (symmetrical, zero exit swirl, or impulse). Exit turning vanes can be included in the design. Program output includes inlet and exit annulus dimensions, exit temperature and pressure, total and static efficiencies, blading angles, and last-stage critical velocity ratios. The report presents the analysis method, a description of input and output with sample cases, and the program listing.

Computer Program for Generating Input for Analysis of Impingement-cooled, Axial-flow Turbine Blade

Book Description

A computer program called TACTGRID has been developed that generates the geometrical input for the TACT1 program, a program that calculates transient and steady-state temperatures, pressures, and cooling flows in an impingement-cooled turbine blade. Using spline curves, the TACTGRID program constructs the blade internal geometry from the previously designed external blade surface and newly selected wall and channel thicknesses. TACTGRID generates the TACT1 calculational grid, calculates arc lengths between grid points required by TACT1 as input, and prepares the namelist input data set used by TACT1 for the blade geometry. In addition, TACTGRID produces a scaled computer plot of each blade slice, detailing the grid and calculational stations, and thus eliminates the need for any intermediate drafting. (Author).
