Book Description
Excerpt from Cornwall Parish Registers, Vol. 4: Marriages In the present issue are contained the marriages of nine Cornish parishes, all of them, with two exceptions, in the deanery of Bodmin. To print together the entries of contiguous parishes is not 'always practicable but, whenever it is possible, it seems best to make proximity a guiding principle in the selection of the contents of each volume, inasmuch as until the Index is compiled, it renders the volumes more convenient for the purposes of reference, while the general interest in the series will be maintained by choosing a different centre as often as circumstances permit. It is gratifying to welcome herein the assistance of new contributors, for it is only by means of a united effort on the part of those who value our parochial records, that the work can be successfully carried forward and completed within a reasonable space of time. Up to the present the supply of material has greatly exceeded the demand. This has caused the contributions of several parishes to be held for a long time in reserve. With the issue of two volumes a year, this accumulation of copy will soon be exhausted, and it is therefore hoped that all incumbents who recognise the importance of the undertaking will co-operate, if not by engaging actively in it themselves, at least 'by affording every facility to those who are good enough to copy the entries.
