This book draws on participatory ethnographic research to understand how rural Colombian women work to dismantle the coloniality of power. It critically examines the ways in which colonial feminisms have homogenized the "category of woman,” ignoring the intersecting relationship of class, race, and gender, thereby excluding the voices of “subaltern women” and upholding existing power structures. Supplementing that analysis are testimonials from rural Colombian women who speak about their struggles for sovereignty and against territorial, sexual, and racialized violence enacted upon their land and their bodies. By documenting the stories of rural women and centering their voices, this book seeks to dismantle the coloniality of power and gender, and narrate and imagine decolonial feminist worlds. Scholars in gender studies, rural studies, and post-colonial studies will find this work of interest.

This is a collection of eleven chapters and an introduction that develop key arguments in decolonial feminism, particularly, the coloniality of gender, the critique of white and Eurocentric feminisms, the imbrication between gender, race, and colonialism, feminicides, and the coloniality of democracy and public institutions. The introduction addresses the path of decolonial feminism: from a new approach to understanding the relationship between gender as a category, race, and colonialism that combined U.S. Third World feminism and scholarship on coloniality and decoloniality to its exponential growth in the hands of activists and engaged scholars from Latin America and the Caribbean. Today, much of the literature on decolonial feminism in Latin America and the Caribbean remains unknown in the U.S. This anthology seeks to start remedying this problem with seven translations of work originally written in Spanish, and three essays originally written in English that address the fundamental concepts of decolonial feminism as well as its contributions to important contemporary political and intellectual debates.

Decolonial Feminist Community Psychology

This edited volume seeks to critically engage with the diversity of feminist and post-colonial theory to counter hegemonic Western knowledge in mainstream community psychology. In doing so, it situates paradigms of thought and representation that capture the lived experiences of those in the global South. Feminisms in the Nordic Region

This book explores how feminist movements in the Nordic region challenge the increasing gender, race and class inequalities following the global economic crisis, neoliberal capitalism and austerity politics, and how they position themselves in the face of the rise of nationalism and right-wing populism. The book contextualizes these recent events in the long histories of racial and colonial power relations embedded in Nordic societies and their gender equality and welfare state regimes. It examines the role of whiteness and racism and seeks to decolonize feminist knowledge and genealogies of feminist movements in the region. The contributions provide in-depth knowledge on the different orientations, dilemmas and tactics that feminisms develop in these challenging times and show the centrality of antiracist and decolonizing critiques of feminisms. We Belong To The Earth


Book Description

This book illustrates the ways in which the personal is political in the advancement of decolonising scholarship. It explores the intimacies of coloniality entrenched in the narcissism of coloniality, enabling the system through extraction, subjugation and violence. Pushing back against the narcissism of coloniality, which is framed by the ma/ster/slave dialectic or internalised oppression, requires uhuru and ubuntu which are agentic strategies employed in reclaiming ontology and epistemology. Uhuru insists on a decolonisation of self; whereas ubuntu is determined by African radical communitarianism, demanding new ways of knowing and seeing whilst re-examining epistemicides of the enslaved, indentured and colonised. Fanonian theory is used as a framework for understanding the colonial authoritys management of the colonised, determining the unhappiness quintessential in the colonial condition. Freirian concepts of conscientisation and criticality are used as a form of resistance, disrupting the system of racial capitalism and the coloniality of gender. Subsequently, flipping the classroom to resist the coloniality of knowledge allows scholars to connect with community, encouraging engaged scholarship from the personal/political perspective, making the classroom a radical space for addressing trauma and healing whilst bridging art, activism and scholarship. Therefore, the classroom is situated against the blind spots of the banking model with male dominated decolonial work silencing the feminist perspective. Consequently, uhuru and ubuntu promote voice, agency and resistance as a pedagogical praxis paramount for the development of a decolonial feminist pedagogy.
