Book Description

William Hannon (1730s-1776) was probably born in Virginia. He married in Virginia and settled in North Carolina by the 1760s where he was the father of a large family. In 1776 William and all but three of his children were killed by Cherokee Indians. One of his sons, Edwin Hannon (1766-1825) married Caroline Earle and was the father of twelve children. Descendants live in North Carolina and other parts of the United States.

James Mitchell (1767-1846) and Nancy Campbell (1771-1844) were married in 1791. They moved from Virginia to Kentucky, to Indiana and back to Kentucky. James, Jr. fought in the War of 1812. Descendants lived in Kentucky, Arkansas, Tennessee, Indiana, Oklahoma, Kansas, California, Iowa, Massachusetts, Washington, Colorado, Idaho, Texas, Oregon, Indiana and elsewhere.

William Mitchell, Jr. (b. ca. 1756) was born in Maryland or Virginia, and married Abigail Wheeler (b. ca. 1759) in North Carolina, ca. 1774. they lived in Wilkes County, North Carolina. Descendants and relatives lived in North Carolina, Missouri, Tennessee, California, Washington, Texas, Illinois, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Oregon, and elsewhere.
