John Jones was born 21 May 1815 in North Carolina. He married Arrena Hatfield (1817-1894), daughter of William Hatfield and Elizabeth Hayes, in about 1835 in Tennessee. He died in 1888 in Wright County, Missouri. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Missouri and Kansas.

Descendants of Edward Jones, who came to Virginia prior to 1653. Captain James Jones (1730-1777) married Charity Alston (b. 1743), the daughter of Solomon Alston. James Jones was the son of Edward Jones III of Isle of Wight Co., Virginia and died in New Bern, N.C. and his wife, Abigail Sugan (b. 1702), a French Huguenot. He was a Captain in North Carolina militia. Captain James Jones and Charity Alston had seven children. Descendants and family members live in North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Arkansas, Texas, Missouri and elsewhere.

Frances Morris, daughter of William Morris, Sr. and Elizabeth Coffey Stapp. John died in 1838 in Paint Creek, Kanawha Co., W.Va. His wife, Frances died 1844 in Pratt, Kanawha Co., Va. (now W.Va.) They were parents of eleven children. Descendants live in Virginia, Tennessee, Indiana, Georgia and elsewhere.
