Digital Shearography

Book Description

Steinchen and Yang, for whom credentials are not cited, present the principle and procedure of the technique and its application in nondestructive testing, strain measurement, and vibration analysis. Aiming to meet the requirements of both beginning and experienced researchers, they emphasize the quantitative evaluation of shearographic interferograms, and offer examples of applications using it in quantifying heat flow rate, and analyzing deviations. Digital Shearography

Book Description

It has been more than a decade since SPIE Press published the first book on shearography in 2003: Digital Shearography: Theory and Application of Digital Speckle Pattern Shearing Interferometry by Wolfgang Steinchen and Lianxiang Yang. That book has greatly contributed to enabling better understanding and improvement of the digital shearography technique. During the past 13 years, digital shearography has been widely applied by industry and accepted as a practical tool for nondestructive testing; at the same time, the technique itself has been greatly improved. This new book presents the principles and applications of phase shift digital shearography, especially spatial phase shift digital shearography, and reviews the state-of-the-art improvements and new developments of digital shearography for nondestructive testing and strain measurement. The authors provide a unified, self-contained treatment of the theory, practice, and applications of shearographic interferometry with problems and questions. The book will meet the requirements of graduate students, as well as be of assistance in research and industry applications.

Digital Holography

Book Description

This highly practical and self-contained guidebook explains the principles and major applications of digital hologram recording and numerical reconstruction (Digital Holography). A special chapter is designated to digital holographic interferometry with applications in deformation and shape measurement and refractive index determination. Applications in imaging and microscopy are also described. Spcial techniques such as digital light-in-flight holography, holographic endoscopy, information encrypting, comparative holography, and related techniques of speckle metrology are also treated

Digital Optical Measurement Techniques and Applications

Book Description

This new resource explains the principles and applications of today’s digital optical measurement techniques. From start to finish, each chapter provides a concise introduction to the concepts and principles of digital optical metrology, followed by a detailed presentation of their applications. The development of all these topics, including their numerous methods, principles, and applications, has been illustrated using a large number of easy-to-understand figures. This book aims to not only help the reader identify the appropriate techniques in function of the measurement requirements, but also assess modern digital measurement systems.

Fracture of Nano and Engineering Materials and Structures

Book Description

The 16th European Conference of Fracture (ECF16) was held in Greece, July, 2006. It focused on all aspects of structural integrity with the objective of improving the safety and performance of engineering structures, components, systems and their associated materials. Emphasis was given to the failure of nanostructured materials and nanostructures including micro- and nano-electromechanical systems (MEMS and NEMS).

Advanced Aerospace Materials

Book Description

This book is for engineers and students of aerospace, materials and mechanical engineering. It covers the transition from aluminum to composite materials for aerospace structures and includes advanced analyses used in industries. New in the 2nd Edition is material on morphing structures, large deflection plates, nondestructive methods, vibration correlation technique for shear loaded plates, vibrations to measure physical properties, and more.

Vibration-based Techniques For Damage Detection And Localization In Engineering Structures

Book Description

In the oil and gas industries, large companies are endeavoring to find and utilize efficient structural health monitoring methods in order to reduce maintenance costs and time. Through an examination of the vibration-based techniques, this title addresses theoretical, computational and experimental methods used within this trend.By providing comprehensive and up-to-date coverage of established and emerging processes, this book enables the reader to draw their own conclusions about the field of vibration-controlled damage detection in comparison with other available techniques. The chapters offer a balance between laboratory and practical applications, in addition to detailed case studies, strengths and weakness are drawn from a broad spectrum of information.
