Debt-Free Degree

Book Description

Every parent wants the best for their child. That’s why they send them to college! But most parents struggle to pay for school and end up turning to student loans. That’s why the majority of graduates walk away with $35,000 in student loan debt and no clue what that debt will really cost them.1 Student loan debt doesn’t open doors for young adults—it closes them. They postpone getting married and starting a family. That debt even takes away their freedom to pursue their dreams. But there is a different way. Going to college without student loans is possible! In Debt-Free Degree, Anthony ONeal teaches parents how to get their child through school without debt, even if they haven’t saved for it. He also shows parents: *How to prepare their child for college *Which classes to take in high school *How and when to take the ACT and SAT *The right way to do college visits *How to choose a major A college education is supposed to prepare a graduate for their future, not rob them of their paycheck and freedom for decades. Debt-Free Degree shows parents how to pay cash for college and set their child up to succeed for life.

Directory of Higher Education Scholarship Programs for Boston Students (Classic Reprint)

Book Description

Excerpt from Directory of Higher Education Scholarship Programs for Boston Students Dear Students: During my 1994 inaugural address. I made a pledge to the freshmen of all Boston public high schools. I promised these students that if they graduated from school with a 'B' average and were accepted by a local college or university, I would work in partnership with those in higher education and in private industry to ensure their ability to attend. I felt then, as I feel now, that access to college should not be a remote possibility but an attainable goal. Much work has already gone into facilitating this goal. Over the past seven years I have met with presidents of nearly thirty Boston area colleges and have asked for their support Several of these institutions have increased their commitment to Boston public high school graduates. I want to thank these colleges and universities for their demonstrated investment in our city's youth - their continued efforts to provide professional development and training, student scholarships and outreach programs, and enhanced access to higher education through innovative programming. Seven years ago we began formally to document scholarship programs available to Boston public school graduates. We prepared a preliminary booklet with the understanding that over the next few years resources would be augmented. This is our sixth update. This directory brings us one step closer to the goal of helping promising students to gain access to college. It is an ongoing process - one which I will continue to further. But much of the challenge and reward rests with you. As you prepare for your future, I offer my enthusiastic support, encouragement, and best wishes.
