Book Description
Excerpt from Discourses on the Offices and Character of Jesus Christ In discourses written as these have been, without reference to each other, and at distant intervals during a period of several years, there will of course be many repetitions of the same or similar thoughts; and nothing of the connexion of parts or uniformity of design can be expected, which should be found in a professed series. Neither will the reader look for such discussions of the several important questions which arise, as might be expected in a regular theological treatise. These are only sermons - designed, to be plainand practical, to help the christian in his devotions, rather than in his speculations. That they may aid believers in rightly appreciating their relation to the Saviour, and cultivating the sentiments and habits which it requires, is the writer's highest wish and ardent prayer.
