The book helps readers develop fundamental skills in the field of biomedical illustrations with a training approach based on step-by-step tutorials with a practical approach. Medical/scientific illustration mainly belongs to professionals in the art field or scientists trying to create artistic visualization. There is not a merging between the two, even if the demand is high. This leads to accurate scientific images with no appeal (or trivial mistakes), or appealing CSI-like images with huge scientific mistakes. This gives the fundamentals to the scientist so they can apply CG techniques that give a more scientific approach creating mistake-free images. Key Features This book provides a reference where none exist. Without overwhelming the reader with software details it teaches basic principles to give readers to fundamentals to create. Demonstrates professional artistic tools used by scientists to create better images for their work. Coverage of lighting and rendering geared specifically for scientific work that is toturoal based with a practical approach. Included are chapter tutorials, key terms and end of chapter references for Art and Scientific References for each chapter.

With the growing trend of licensing apparel, accessories, and home fashions under a single logo, today's students must expand their portfolios to include concepts with broader applications. Marker Rendering for Fashion, Accessories, and Home Fashions provides detailed instructions for marker rendering methods relevant to a variety of products. Allowing designers to express their ideas immediately, the marker is an essential tool for the design professional. The author's step-by-step instructions provide a sound introduction to the skills that students need, and teaches methods of overlapping media applications for an assortment of colors, patterns, and materials. The lessons are taught as a progression of skills, building slowly from basic to complex rendering methods used in the design industry today.

Eco-Efficient Rendering Mortars: Use of Recycled Materials focuses on the use of waste materials into cement-based renders, discussing the origins, treatment processes and properties of relevant wastes. The book dispels mistrust through demonstrating the technical feasibility and environmental benefits of eco-efficient rendering mortars. It considers the characteristics of different waste products, such as aggregates, fillers, binders and additions. The functional requirements of renders are also discussed alongside their impact. Finally, the title considers the lifecycle and durability of modified mortars. This book offers robust support and clear guidance on the use of wastes as a substitute for natural aggregates and binders. Presents evidence supporting the use of wastes as a substitute for natural aggregates and binders Characterizes wastes and considers how to best incorporate different kinds of waste into renders Gives details on the technical efficiency and environmental impact of different waste materials on mortars Analyzes the impact of wastes on render performance in terms of fresh state, mechanical, water and durability Considers the lifecycle assessment and durability of modified mortars

Arthur L. Guptill's classic Rendering in Pen and Ink has long been regarded as the most comprehensive book ever published on the subject of ink drawing. This is a book designed to delight and instruct anyone who draws with pen and ink, from the professional artist to the amateur and hobbyist. It is of particular interest to architects, interior designers, landscape architects, industrial designers, illustrators, and renderers. Contents include a review of materials and tools of rendering; handling the pen and building tones; value studies; kinds of outline and their uses; drawing objects in light and shade; handling groups of objects; basic principles of composition; using photographs, study of the work of well-known artists; on-the-spot sketching; representing trees and other landscape features; drawing architectural details; methods of architectural rendering; examination of outstanding examples of architectural rendering; solving perspective and other rendering problems; handling interiors and their accessories; and finally, special methods of working with pen including its use in combination with other media. The book is profusely illustrated with over 300 drawings that include the work of famous illustrators and renderers of architectural subjects such as Rockwell Kent, Charles Dana Gibson, James Montgomery Flagg, Willy Pogany, Reginald Birch, Harry Clarke, Edward Penfield, Joseph Clement Coll, F.L. Griggs, Samuel V. Chamberlain, Louis C. Rosenberg, John Floyd Yewell, Chester B. Price, Robert Lockwood, Ernest C. Peixotto, Harry C. Wilkinson, Bertram Grosvenor Goodhue, and Birch Burdette Long. Best of all, Arthur Guptill enriches the text with drawings of his own.

As information is distributed and consumed at an increasingly rapid pace, one of the most effective (or at least pervasive) ways to communicate architectural ideas is through renderings. Typically a perspectival image that can be understood without any knowledge of architectural drawing conventions, the rendering derives power from its accessibility to a wide audience-hence its crucial role in design competitions, client presentations, press releases, and other such public forums. While these architectural visualizations are certainly nothing new, advances in software and hardware have enabled renderings to be made faster and more realistic than ever before. This presents both an opportunity and a challenge. On the one hand, design concepts can now be tested and conveyed with an unprecedented degree of visual accuracy. Conversely, whether through omission, extreme dramatization, or even intentional fakery, architects now have the ability to realistically depict the impossible. Furthermore, both clients and public are beginning to expect photorealistic imagery even at the earliest stages of a project, when supposed 'realism' can oftentimes belie the fundamentally speculative nature of design. Given the importance of these images in mediating between architects and the people they ultimately serve, CLOG will critically assess the state of renderings today.
