Excerpt from Catalogue of an Exhibition of Etchings, Dry-Points and Mezzotints: October 4 to October 31, 1910 It is extraordinary how a busy London surgeon should surpass the professional artists in their own specialty, but this is what Seymour Haden certainly did. Being a man of very wide artistic knowledge it must not be supposed that he was ignorant of the fine quality of his own works. He judged them with the same impartiality with which he would have judged the etchings of Rem brandt. I well remember Seymour Haden saying to me, in allusion to his drypoint, the Sunset in Ireland: That is the print which will fetch an enormous price in the centuries to come. Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made available for future generations to enjoy.

Excerpt from Modern Etchings, Mezzotints and Dry-Points Forest. One can hardly look at Mr. Ness's boldly conceived Fringe of tae Wood without thinking of Mr. Oliver Hall, and Wishing that that masterly etcher of wide tree-dominated landscapes would return for expression to the copper-plate.
