GAO examined the financial statements of the Gorgas Memorial Institute of Tropical and Preventive Medicine, Inc., for the years ended September 30, 1985 and 1984. GAO found that: (1) the financial statements presented fairly the financial position of the Institute, the results of its operations, and the changes in its financial position, in conformity with generally accepted accounting principles applied on a consistent basis; (2) the Institute's internal accounting control system had no material weaknesses; and (3) the Institute complied with the terms and provisions of laws and regulations for the transactions tested that could have materially affected its financial statements.
