Robert Wemheuer details many important events in his impressive career in a two-book memoir Unlike No Other. His main focus is to honor the unsung heroes with whom he served as well as to call out some not-so-good characters. The Marines, sailors, and civilians who helped him learn and grow from his missteps that helped him develop his leadership skills are his primary emphasis. His description of the career-building steps necessary to move from a simple civilian life to that of a company grade Marine Corps officer and naval aviator are told in a straightforward, unvarnished, and concise manner. He also describes his combat experiences flying the CH-53 helicopter during his three tours of duty in Vietnam, again focusing on the Marines who supported his efforts both in and out of the cockpit. Robert looks at his career from a very interesting perspective. In our early years, he was one of the youngest superstars in our squadron, and you could always depend on him for anything. Robert, nicknamed Bull, was in some really hot combat. In just one mission, his Marine H-53 squadron was supporting a large army unit in the Lam Son 719 battle in Laos in which the army lost 106 helicopters. Bull rescued under heavy, heavy fire two legendary Marine squadron mates (Charlie Pitman and Mike Wasco) who had been shot down. You could always depend on Robert, and he had many more hot missions. Unlike No Other also describes the life of a Marine field grade officer as he ascends to higher ranks and greater responsibilities. It highlights the problems and potential political risks involved in navigating the military and civilian bureaucratic systems. I had the pleasure of serving alongside Robert Wemheuer over my long career in the Marine Corps. He tells it like it is and always will. Read, learn, and enjoy unlike no other. Colonel Wemheuer's goal in writing his memoir is to highlight the accomplishments of the Marines, sailors, and civilians who he had the honor to work with during his twenty-five-year career. His hope is that this second book also will give them some of the recognition they deserve for doing an outstanding job day in and day out, generally receiving little or no recognition for their work. --Richard "Rick" Phillips, Major General, United States Marine Corps “Insert picture on back cover” Lieutenant Colonel Wemheuer and his OV-10 on Okinawa in 1982. Book 2 of this memoir traces my career as a field grade officer after my promotion to major then lieutenant colonel and finally to colonel through my retirement after a successful tour of duty at my final command of the Marine Corps Air Station Tustin, California. Book 2, like book 1, is made up of individual, stand-alone chapters laid out in chronological order.

September 26, 1970. I didn't know if I would come home. I was a pilot on my way to Vietnam as a Forward Air Controller, or FAC. I really had no idea what to expect. Without planning to do so, I jotted down a thought as my military charter flight headed west. I continued to record what I saw, heard, felt, and even smelled, as the planned one-year assignment progressed. When completed, the journal notes formed a history of a segment of the Vietnam War, which included Cambodia. There, I directed air strikes by U.S. jet fighters, as they were almost the sole support for the Cambodians, who fought invading North Vietnamese and insurgent communist forces.Guilt from living well and returning unscathed, sadness for friends lost, and anger and frustration at my generation's sacrifice in a war it wasn't allowed to win, kept my journal notes unopened for years. Over thirty years later, there is still much history to be told about thisremote, limited, unpopular conflict; so this journal is now written. It still hurts.

Betty's knowledge has become a liability. She just simply wants a last skiing holiday, and then to die… peacefully, escaping her genetic illness - she understands that her time has come. But malign agents want her secret knowledge about the i-vector technology, and they have sophisticated plans to abduct her. In response, her colleagues have made a timeline change, tipping the balance back in Betty's favour; even though she, and they, cannot be aware of that in this altered timeline. But, in practice, attempts to change the timeline do not always deliver clear, clean results. And does Time, or the natural course of events, have an inertia of its own, resisting changes and trying to revert to the status quo of events? A tortuous journey, set in the present-day, beginning in a ski resort… This second book in the i-vector series, picks up the story following the timeline change made at the end of Book #1 "Schrödinger's Dog", or it can be enjoyed as a standalone Sci-Fi adventure read.

Stochastically-Based Semantic Analysis investigates the problem of automatic natural language understanding in a spoken language dialog system. The focus is on the design of a stochastic parser and its evaluation with respect to a conventional rule-based method. Stochastically-Based Semantic Analysis will be of most interest to researchers in artificial intelligence, especially those in natural language processing, computational linguistics, and speech recognition. It will also appeal to practicing engineers who work in the area of interactive speech systems.

In response to a minor emotional crisis, a young, somewhat naive American man runs off to South America on a fool-hearty journey to "find himself." Over the course of several months, he wanders from the beaches and festival cities on the coast of Brazil to the dead center middle of the Amazon jungle. Along the way, he encounters a great variety of people from all walks of life: backpackers, bums, con-artists, scoundrels, prostitutes, cops, criminals, artists, entrepreneurs, anti-American extremists, pro-American patriots and, of course, a few very beautiful women. Unfortunately, he also becomes accidentally involved in drug smuggling and several people end up dead. Will the young hero succeed in finding himself during his epic journey? Or will the crazy fool's reckless adventure end in total disaster?
