The objectives of this Study Mission were to assess the current status of the food processing industry in APO member countries; to observe the extent of use of modern food processing techniques in the host country; and to exchange views and experiences on the subject among participants. Topics discussed included food consumption patterns and trends; status of the food processing industry; problems faced by the industry; government policies affecting the industry; changing dietary intake and processed food consumption; food procesing industry in Asia and the Pacific; current status of food processing industry in Japan; and modernization of food manufacturing: government policies in Japan.
