Frieda Saeys (hoogleraar Communicatiewetenschappen Universiteit Gent 1948-2007) en is het kernconcept waarrond het boek Diverse mediawerelden. Het boek neemt je mee langs vier thema's, behandelt de wereld van media vanuit diverse invalshoeken en methoden, zowel op macro- als microniveau, en biedt bovendien een overzicht van hedendaags onderzoek rond deze thematiek. De eerste twee delen spitsen zich toe op de studie van de audiovisuele mediastructuren en de mediabeleidsproblemen die daaraan verbonden zijn.
