FREPAS (Forest-Range Environmental Production Analytical System) provides a means for evaluating the nation's range land resource. The system uses linear programming to analyze alternative plans for the management and protection of range resources. It shows how each proposed plan affects the output of nine physical products including animal unit months and water yield, and 13 environmental values such as soil stability and rare and endangered species. Data can be handled at various levels for various combinations of ecosystems, regions, and range conditions.
