The City of Fort Lauderdale Fire-Rescue Department (FLFD) does not have an accurate employee performance evaluation towards the job of the fire department personnel. This creates a problem that the evaluation given to the fire department personnel is not related to the job that the personnel perform in a daily basis. The purpose of this research is to identify an accurate employee's performance evaluation for the City of Fort Lauderdale Fire-Rescue personnel. Procedures using descriptive research was used and supported by a survey given to surrounding fire departments.

Evaluating the Need to Develop and Properly Maintain an Emergency Management Program

This research project provided the data necessary to support the development of a model emergency plan for the City of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. In addition, the research will enable the Fort Lauderdale Fire-Rescue and Building Department to implement and maintain a city-wide program to properly prepare for, respond to, and recover from a major disaster, whether it be natural or manmade. The results of this research made it evident that many fire departments lack the programs, procedures, and financial support necessary to maintain effective emergency management programs. It is clear that the fire service needs to address the responsibilities and concerns associated with being prepared for major disasters.
