Excerpt from Genealogy of John Warburton and Descendants Before sending this record to press. We, the compilers, wish to express a few thoughts to our prospective readers. The introductory chapters, though not complete, are undoubtedly an authentic record of the W'arburton family of England. From which the family of John Warburto-n of America is a branch. John Patton and His Descendants (Classic Reprint)

Book Description

Excerpt from John Patton and His Descendants In this writing we have not attempted to trace the families of the other brothers or nephews, (we are not sure which they were) of John Patton, who came to Tennessee, at or near the same time. One of these, David Patton, settled at Bradyville in Rutherford County. The other whose name we think was Rob ert, settled on the north side of the Cumberlandriver, near Springfield. We have made a number of inquiries in an effort to find who were John Patton's parents and his connection with other branches of the Patton family, but we have nothing thus far that we can give as reliable. An effort has been made to obtain pictures of all the members of the second and third generations, but we have been able to obtain only those here presented. It would have been gratifying to us if we could have had a picture of each member of John Patton's descendants, but that would have added much to the delay in getting out the work and very largely to the cost. If in the future such a work should be desired it could be gotten out. We append some blank leaves to this book for recording the births, marriages and deaths in each family as they occur in the future and also to cor rect any mistakes which may have been made in this history, so that it may serve as a complete record for each family. Then if at any future time it should be desired to make another edition of the history the data would be easy to obtain. The Brockway Family

Book Description

Excerpt from The Brockway Family: Some Records of Wolston Brockway, and His Descendants In January, 1887, the Hon. Beman Brockway published a pamphlet of twenty-two pages, contain ing the result of his studies, and intimating that one of the other parties might also print a collection of records at some future time. I decided to put my col lection in print as an encouragement to our cousins, and to make sure that the records should not be lost or scattered. As the family grows, there may be a chance for each member to compile and print a genealogy for himself. So mote it be. Wakeman Genealogy, 1630-1899

Book Description

Excerpt from Wakeman Genealogy, 1630-1899: Being a History of the Descendants of Samuel Wakeman, of Hartford, Conn;, And of John Wakeman, Treasurer of New Haven Colony, With a Few Collaterals Included This genealogy is offered to the family with a feeling that it is very far short of what a good and complete history of the family Should be; and while some of the statistical omissions are owing to a lack of ability on the part of the author to procure them from various records, a part of this is owing to loss or the destruction of records of churches or towns, and of valuable papers belonging to earlier members of the family; a notable case being the burning a very few years ago of pamphlets and papers that formerly belonged to the Rev. Samuel Wakeman by a New York city teacher, to whom they descended. These papers, etc., would have sold for considerable money. The scattering of our family in nearly every state of the Union, many moving and leaving little or no clew, has been another obstacle.
