This Burton Family History Book presents the Burton genealogy. Ingenulfe Burton was the earliest ancestor found. He was born in the early 1000's and accompanied William the Conqueror to the Battle of Hastings in 1066. Sir James Burton accompanied Richard the Lionheart on the 3rd Crusade in 1190 and received Knighthood based on his actions during the Battle of Cyprus. A total of 23 generations who lived in Lincolnshire, England, are included. In 1852, George Burton immigrated to America, settling in Iowa. One year later, his wife (Charlotte Ford) followed, accompanied by their son and two children from her first marriage. The book covers six generations in America, including descendants of Charlotte Ford from her 1st marriage.George W. Burton (1851-1927) and his half-brother, Hugh Sparrow Burton (1846-1912), moved to Kansas in 1872. George W. participated in the Great Land Rush of 1893 obtaining land in Oklahoma. Most of his descendants remained in Oklahoma, or moved to Texas.
