Even If Not

Book Description

If you find yourself in between one thing and another, changing from who you used to be into who you are becoming, how will you live in the messy, beautiful middle? And what if the middle pages hold storylines that wound and surprise? Is God with us on those pages, too? In Even If Not, Kaitlyn Bouchillon invites you to let go of trying to figure out the ending of your story and instead lean into the faithfulness of God. With honest and vulnerable storytelling from her own in betweens, Kaitlyn encourages you to say - no matter what page of the story you find yourself on - that although you believe God could come through how you're asking, you'll trust Him... even if not.

Contradict

Book Description

Tolerance and co-existence are both great! In fact, they are necessary. If we are to live together in peace without hating each other, or physically harming each other over differences in race, culture, sexual orientation, political views, and religious beliefs, we must have tolerance. However, we must also recognize that every belief can't be equally valid. If two beliefs directly contradict each other, both of them cannot be true, no matter how "tolerant" we become. This means it is false to say that every religion is true, or that every religion leads to God. When people make such claims they show that they have not taken the time to study the world's religions, because a brief reading of the sacred texts of only a handful of religions quickly reveals contradictions on the most fundamental levels. Religious Contradictions Reincarnation (Hinduism and Buddhism) contradicts the belief that this is your only life before eternity (Christianity, Judaism, and Islam). Salvation from sin (Christianity) contradicts the belief that there is no sin to be saved from but simply pain that can be escaped through enlightenment (Buddhism). Jesus Christ is the incarnate, Son of God (Christianity), contradicts the teaching that he is just a prophet (Islam) or that he was a false prophet (Judaism). In light of these contradictions alone, all religions can't be true. They could all be false, but they can't all be true. Are any of them true? This is the most important question anyone can ask. Recognize religious contradictions. Embrace them. Test them. Seek the truth. www.contradictmovement.org

The Fire Next Time

Book Description

First published in 1963, James Baldwin's A Fire Next Time stabbed at the heart of America's so-called ldquo;Negro problemrdquo;. As remarkable for its masterful prose as it is for its uncompromising account of black experience in the United States, it is considered to this day one of the most articulate and influential expressions of 1960s race relations. The book consists of two essays, ldquo;My Dungeon Shook mdash; Letter to my Nephew on the One Hundredth Anniversary of Emancipation,rdquo; and ldquo;Down At The Cross mdash; Letter from a Region of My Mind.rdquo; It weaves thematic threads of love, faith, and family into a candid assault on the hypocrisy of the so-say ldquo;land of the freerdquo;, insisting on the inequality implicit to American society. ldquo;You were born where you were born and faced the future that you facedrdquo;, Baldwin writes to his nephew, ldquo;because you were black and for no other reason.rdquo; His profound sense of injustice is matched by a robust belief in ldquo;monumental dignityrdquo;, in patience, empathy, and the possibility of transforming America into ldquo;what America must become.rdquo;

God's Rainbow of Promise

Book Description

The very essence of the Lord's Prayer is one of hope. God comes to us in our every-day walk and offers power and peace. Jesus' prayer demonstrates the hope which God the Father initiated in the very beginning of time. From the blessed hope of God's Kingdom to the Holy will for our lives, this precious prayer of Jesus demonstrates the motives by which we as Christians shall live. The numerous avenues of life are depicted in the thoughts of Jesus - healing, forgiveness, our every need supplied, and relief from temptation. This book also offers comfort to those suffering from serious illness. Even the evangelical mode of God's heavenly Kingdom offers to mankind the rainbow of promise in our Eternal Home. I am a walking miracle of the Almighty God. Having been instructed by God to tell all people of His saving power and of a life which fades not away, I began writing this book. Before I had completed it I was afflicted with a bleeding brain aneurism. With much prayer God saw me through those dark and bitter days and brought me through the darkness into His marvelous light. With His help and with Jesus at my side, I began again to finish the work, which God placed before me. My one desire is for the people the world over to come to the knowledge of Jesus Christ and to join me in holy admonition of God's heavenly home. With my poetry I have reached many people throughout the world. I have been blessed with the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and walk hand in hand with Him along life's way.

God's Rainbow Promise

Book Description

God's Rainbow Promise is a book that looks at the issue of human sexuality through the lens of the three-legged stool that the Anglican Church has used for centuries. The legs of the stool are represented by the areas of scripture, tradition, and reason. This book is meant to provide a start for a group to begin a conversation with each other. It emphasizes that God made the promise of the Rainbow to all Noah's descendants. This is one of the reasons that the symbol of the rainbow became a symbol for the homosexual community to recognize safe places. Please make the place you meet to discuss this book with others a safe place for all. My prayer for those who read God's Rainbow Promise is that they will come away with an appreciation for the opinion of the other, and that we are all God's children, and that there is strength in diversity. Above all, I pray that we live into the summation of God's law found in Matthew chapter 22, by loving God with all of our heart, with all of our mind, and all of our soul, and loving our neighbor as ourselves. The Rev. Lauri Kerr grew up on a dairy farm in North Central Pennsylvania. Received a BA in Psychology from Mansfield University and a Master's in Organizational Leadership from Mansfield University.
