Book Description

This book is the story of two families whose ancestors, like many others, came from the old world to the new seeking a better life. The first Goss ancestor came around the year 1700, or somewhat thereafter some three hundred years ago. The fi rst Hartley ancestor arrived in the early 1820's nearly two hundred years ago. Both settled on the Island of Newfoundland and a good many of their descendants continue to live on the Island to this day. Many others, however, have immigrated to mainland Canada and the United States so that members of the two families are now fairly widespread over both countries.
