Poems of the Deepwoods Nitwit!

Book Description

My book of stories and poems are taken from the lives of my family and friends. For the most part, they are the subjects that will cheer up those that are sad and think only they have had troubles in this life. I hope it will bring a smile to your face, and sometimes may you also laugh out loud. Many of the poems were written in the wee hours when I awakened with something on my mind that I thought would take a friend's troubles off her mind. Many are written on subjects suggested by those that I worked with. I decided to one day write this book because I think we all should leave a little bit of ourself for future generations to know what life was like when we felt free. You will notice that many of the poems are about freedom, love of country, and the desire to preserve that which our forefathers fought and died for when we claimed our birthright promised to Abraham. Happiness is also what I wish for those of you to find in my simple words of wisdom in the form of verse, If by chance you that read get half as much pleasure reading as I did writing, I feel I have accomplished what I set out to do.

As his daughter Mindy Brown endures her senior year, delaying an inevitable abortion, the world awaits a civil trial which could topple Roe v. Wade. "A Grisham-like thriller, Grandpa's Hook engages legalized abortion much like Uncle Tom's Cabin engaged, and helped end, legalized slavery." -Jedd Hafer. Scott Degelman came to know Jesus in 1998 at 29 years old. He then transferred his lifelong passion for writing into serving God through the arts. A published poet, speaker, novelist and songwriter, Scott is Director at a Colorado Boys' Home where he has counseled for eight years. He is married with four children the last five years. He will attend a final year of Bible College after he stops having kids. Leatherface vs. Tricky Dick

Book Description

The Watergate scandal was a horror show. What better way to satirize it than with a horror movie? Tobe Hooper's The Texas Chain Saw Massacre premiered in October 1974, mere weeks after the resignation and pardon of Richard Nixon brought an uncertain end to the most corrupt and criminal presidency in American history. The film had been conceived, written, shot, edited, and produced precisely as Watergate was playing out, and those responsible for Chain Saw unhesitatingly spoke of the horrors of contemporary politics as having directly inspired the ones they created for the film. Leatherface vs. Tricky Dick presents a fascinating minute-by-minute exploration of the many uncanny connections between The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and Watergate, as well as other ways the film comments on contemporary politics via satire and (very) dark humor. Read and discover Chain Saw’s response to the White House horrors, the Saturday Night Massacre, and more, as well as how Leatherface’s masks relate to all those Nixon masks worn throughout “our long national nightmare.”
