Grandpa's Magic Hair

Book Description

The idea for this story came about when my daughter was young. We were visiting family in Scotland, and she was very curious about the wig worn by my father-in-law. We called it Grandpas magic hair as he only wore it when he was going out. Many years later, I decided to develop the idea into a picture book for young children. The illustrations give clues as to what is about to happen in each situation, and the repetition allows children to become more involved with the story. The underlying message in the book is about showing kindness and helping one another.

Our Better Nature

Book Description

This work is a collection of five short stories, which were inspired by the many selfless, random acts of kindness and caring, which were extended to others by simple, everyday people in ordinary places, and the positive and profound effect those deeds had on their lives. The book highlights that higher nature of humanity, "our better nature," which we all aspire to, and it is the author's intention to raise these unsung heroes out of obscurity and present them in the light of their overwhelming generosity. These are uplifting stories about life, love, faith and family; about compassion and caring, sorrow and joy; about loss and tragedy; about unfortunate endings and hopeful new beginnings. They are masterfully told in the backdrop of the Christmas season, charged with elements of magic and wonder, revealing fascinating twists and turns. These tales, while fanciful, are true, and save for a touch of color, they are delivered to the reader exactly the way they happened. Alas, those who play out their parts in these pages will know the truth of it. As these tales were given to the author, so he gives them to you and your family. It is the author's expressed wish that you are richly entertained and that these stories may serve to elevate and inspire.

What a Beautiful Morning

Book Description

Every morning is beautiful when Noah visits his Grandparents. When Grandpa and Noah wake up, they take off singing and hardly stop: walking the dog, splashing through puddles, and eating French toast with cinnamon. But one summer Grandpa seems to have forgotten how to do the things they love. Does he even know who Noah is? Grandma steps in energetically, filling in as best she can. But it is Noah who finds the way back to something he can share with Grandpa. Something musical. Something that makes the morning beautiful again. This is a story about how love helps us find even what we think is lost.

Blackeyed

Book Description

Blackeyed is a collection of plays and monologues. The topics covered in the book include housing and foreclosure, suicide, assault, mental health, the Black male experience, and more. The book intersects with critical race theory because the majority of this work positions race at the center of the experiences of the fictional or fictionalized characters. Embedded in these chapters are the interweaving of personal and ancestral stories, news reports, informal conversations, observations, interviews, and online research expressed in language unapologetically Black, critical, reflexive, and proud. Blackeyed can be used as a class text in theatre, education, creative writing, communication, women’s studies, sociology, and African American studies undergraduate and graduate courses. It can also be used by theatre practitioners, including actors and directors, working in community, regional and national theatre settings. Individuals including qualitative researchers interested in exploring more affective possibilities or arts-based researchers can also read this collection as an example of methodological exemplar. Finally, anyone interested in the Black experience as well as the specific topics covered in this book can read this collection of plays as one might read a collection of short stories.

The Other Side of Reality

Book Description

This is a collection of ideas I have had over the years as inspiration for novels. They range from science fiction, fantasy, drama, romance and just plain stories. They started out as a few sentences or ideas. I then tried to write novels and had over twenty four false starts. I had enough to make this collection of short stories and decided to publish them.
