Thermal Conductivity 28

Book Description

This book presents the most current research on heat flow in materials, ranging from metals to newer materials such as thin films and nanowires.

Sensors, Thermal Sensors

Book Description

'Sensors' is the first self-contained series to deal with the wholearea of sensors. It describes general aspects, technical andphysical fundamentals, construction, function, applications anddevelopments of the various types of sensors. This volume describes the construction and applicational aspects ofthermal sensors while presenting a rigorous treatment of theunderlying physical principles. It provides a unique overview ofthe various categories of sensors as well as of specific groups,e.g. temperature sensors (resistance thermometers, thermocouples, and radiation thermometers), noise and acoustic thermometers,heat-flow and mass-flow sensors. Specific facettes of applicationsare presented by specialists from different fields includingprocess control, automotive technology and cryogenics. This volumeis an indispensable reference work and text book for bothspecialists and newcomers, researchers and developers.

Insulation Materials, Testing and Applications, 3rd Volume

Book Description

...Contains papers presented at the Third Symposium on Insulation Materials: Testing and Applications, held in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada, on 15-17 May 1997.

Advanced Energy Technologies and Systems I

Book Description

This book focuses on modern technologies and systems for solving problems in the energy sector. It is shown that bioenergy is one of the promising areas of energy development. The book collected the experience of scientists from many countries in the research of renewable energy. The advantages of renewable energy are general availability, renewability, environmental friendliness. The analysis carried out by the authors shows the current state of renewable energy in the world, its trends and prospects. New measuring systems are presented, which can become the basis for measuring the thermal characteristics of various types of fuels, including biofuels, insulating materials, enclosing structures, etc. System for monitoring of grainy biomass comminution with the use of genetic algorithms has been presented and described. New technologies for the construction of power plants based on renewable energy sources have been proposed and investigated.

Thermal Conductivity 18

Book Description

The International Thermal Conductivity Conference was started in 1961 with the initiative of Mr. Charles F. Lucks, who passed away on 8 July 1982 and to the memory of whom this volume is dedicated. These Conferences on thermal conductivity grew out of the needs of researchers in the field. The Conferences were held annu ally from 1961 to 1973 and have been held biennially since 1975 when our Center for Information and Numerical Data Analysis and Synthesis (CINDAS) of Purdue University became the Permanent Sponsor of the Conferences. These Conferences provide a broadly based forum for researchers actively working on the thermal conduc tivity and closely related properties to convene on a regular basis to exchange their ideas and experiences and report their findings and results. The Conferences have been self-perpetuating and are an example of how a technical community with a common purpose can transcend the invisible, artificial barriers between disciplines and gather together in increasing numbers without the need of national pub licity and continuing funding support, when they see something worthwhile going on. It is believed that this series of Conferences not only will grow stronger, but will set an example for research ers in other fields on how to jointly attack their own problem areas.

Compendium of Thermophysical Property Measurement Methods

Book Description

Building on the extensive coverage of the first volume, Volume 2 focuses on the fundamentals of measurements and computational techniques that will aid researchers in the construction and use of measurement devices.
