The digitalization is currently fundamentally changing our world of work. One important trend in this context is the “platform economy”, with crowdworking platforms as an increasingly relevant platform type. Many of these crowdworking platforms and their surrounding work systems including participants, nformation, technologies, as well as processes and activities, are comparatively new and often designed incrementally. What is currently still lacking is systematic knowledge about the efficient design of such crowdworking platform systems (CWPS). This dissertation provides such design knowledge in the form of a nascent design theory. One important focus lies on the question how such CWPS should be designed to also use this novel form of work organization for more complex work. This dissertation furthermore shows how a close interlinking of external crowds and internal employees of an organization helps to harness the advantages of crowdworking while at the same time mitigates its disadvantages.

Later career, 'the second half of the game', is not, as it is often perceived to be, a period of decline or a black hole, but an inspirational time of Generative Leadership and a challenging opportunity for better tactics. This book explores common fears and uncertainties about the second half of the game, enabling you to feel comfortable exploring opportunities previously outside of your comfort zone and feel confident about your future. The common language and frameworks will help you to influence your organisation to create innovative new models and opportunities around leadership, both for yourself and your colleagues. Cases and stories from high profile business, public sector and sports professionals along side practical diagnoses, will inspire, show you how to take more personal control and determine what combination of things you really want in the second half - with the tools and techniques to make this happen. This is a practical leadership guide for anyone in management concerned with what their life, career and leadership capabilities will look like once they approach and enter what used to be the traditional 'retirement' age and move into the second half of the game. David Grayson, Director of the Doughty Centre for Corporate Responsibility at Cranfield School of Management, "I know from both the demographic data across the developed world and the personal experiences of many people that I meet socially and professionally that Julie is on to something very timely with her message."

Shhh . Did you know there is a secret Language of Leadership: a timeless set of cues and signals that still determines who reaches the top in politics and business today. The ancient Greeks were the first to study the art of communication 2,500 years ago. It is only now, with recent breakthroughs in neuroscience, that we can say for sure what works and how. In Winning Minds, top speechwriter Simon Lancaster blends ancient rhetoric and neuroscience to create the definitive guide to the Language of Leadership. With trust in business and political leaders at record lows, there's never been a better time for a fresh perspective on communication. Winning Minds is packed with insights into the effects of metaphors, stories, and sound bites on the brain. We know what the brain looks like on heroin. This book shows the brain on Branson, Obama, and Boris.

Harnessing Complexity will be indispensable to anyone who wants to better comprehend how people and organizations can adapt effectively in the information age. This book is a step-by-step guide to understanding the processes of variation, interaction, and selection that are at work in all organizations. The authors show how to use their own paradigm of "bottom up" management, the Complex Adaptive System-whether in science, public policy, or private commerce. This simple model of how people work together will change forever how we think about getting things done in a group. "Harnessing Complexity distills the managerial essence of current research on complexity. "A very valuable contribution to the emerging theory of competition and competitive advantage."-C.K. Prahalad, University of Michigan, coauthor of Competing for the Future "A brilliant exposition that demystifies both the theory and use of Complex Adaptive Systems."-John Seely Brown, Xerox Corporation and Palo Alto Research Center

In some industries, this trend has been evident for some time. But now it's going to accelerate across the gamut of industry. How do we remain relevant in this risky new world? How do we win this uncertain new game? What if ours is a brick-and-mortar organization that depends on face-to-face interaction? Can we learn to harness digital methods, tools and technologies? Fortunately, there is a pathway to prosperity. The story in this book is set in the heady world of international banking, but the prescription, methods and lessons apply equally to manufacturers, utilities, hospitals, insurers and government agencies. Harnessing digital disruption entails learning new tools, systems and thinking. Doing so effectively requires a sound overall approach based on timeless principles.
