High Energy Nuclear Collisions And Quark Gluon Plasma - Proceedings Of The Symposium

Book Description

This is a collection of exciting papers in the area of high energy nuclear collisions and quark gluon plasma. The volume covers lectures on the natures of hadronic matter at high temperature and/or density and signals of quark-hadron phase transitions. It also includes discussions and descriptions of the data of CERN and BNL nucleus-nucleus collisions. Other contributions deal with physics at RHIC, LHC and the PS-collider, collision simulators and various related topics.

Physics With High Energy Colliders - Proceedings Of 22nd Ins International Symposium

Book Description

Recent results from all types of high energy colliders (e⁺e⁻, pp, ep) are presented from the view point of electroweak interaction and QCD/Jet physics together with related phenomenological reviews. Expected physics at future colliders, both being built or planned, are also discussed including e+e- linear collider, pp collider and heavy ion collider.

Introduction To High-energy Heavy-ion Collisions

Book Description

Written primarily for researchers and graduate students who are new in this emerging field, this book develops the necessary tools so that readers can follow the latest advances in this subject. Readers are first guided to examine the basic informations on nucleon-nucleon collisions and the use of the nucleus as an arena to study the interaction of one nucleon with another. A good survey of the relation between nucleon-nucleon and nucleus-nucleus collisions provides the proper comparison to study phenomena involving the more exotic quark-gluon plasma. Properties of the quark-gluon plasma and signatures for its detection are discussed to aid future searches and exploration for this exotic matter. Recent experimental findings are summarised.

High Energy Accelerators (Heacc 92) - Proceedings Of The Xv International Conference (In 2 Volumes)

Book Description

The High Energy Accelerator Conference has always been the monitor of the state of the art and the new trends in planning, construction and operation of large particle accelerators. It is held every three years. The 1992 conference is devoted to High Energy Hadron Accelerators and Colliders, Linear Colliders, e⁺e⁻ Storage Rings and related Technologies for these machines. In addition to status reports and contributed papers, the program features twelve survey talks which include summaries of individual poster papers.

Physics With Gev-particle Beams - Proceedings Of The International Conference

Book Description

The investigation of hadronic and nuclear probes with protons and electrons in the energy range of a few GeV is of great importance for the understanding of the properties of nucleons and mesons as well as of their interaction. Experimental results from studies with these beams provide the basis for the development and the tests of theoretical approaches in the energy regime of non-perturbative QCD. They can also clarify the effect of the nuclear medium on elementary reactions. The conference has reviewed the present status of this field of research. The topics have beenThe conference topics comprised investigations near energy thresholds in the tradition of the conferences on Particle Production near Threshold in Nashville, IN, USA, 1990, and Uppsala, Sweden, 1992.

Proceedings Of The 28th International Conference On High Energy Physics (In 2 Volumes)

Book Description

The 28th conference from the Rochester series was the major high energy physics conference in 1996. Volume one contains short reports on new theoretical and experimental results. Volume two consists of the review talks presented in the plenary sessions.

Physics And Astrophysics Of Quark-gluon Plasma - Proceedings Of The 2nd International Conference

Book Description

A notable feature of this volume is the emphasis on the role of quark matter as well as the cosmic QCD phase transition in cosmology and astrophysics. In addition, there are several review talks, both in experiment and theory, summarising the state of the art and projection for the near future in this important and rapidly evolving area. This book will serve as an important source for researchers and graduate students in the area of quark-gluon plasma physics, excited hadronic matter, astrophysics, cosmology and other related areas.

Proceedings of the 31st International Conference on High Energy Physics ICHEP 2002

Book Description

The first precision measurements on CP violation in the B system are reported. Both the BELLE and the BABAR collaboration presented, among others, results for sin 2ß with much improved accuracy. Results from the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory, SNO, also deserve to be mentioned. The convincing evidence of solar neutrino oscillations had been presented by SNO prior to the conference; a full presentation was given at the conference. An incredibly precise measurement of the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon is reported, a fresh result from the Brookhaven National Laboratory. Apart from these distinct physics highlights, there are also the first results from the new Tevatron run and from the relativistic heavy ion collider RHIC. Theorists write of our ever better understanding of the Standard Model and of what might lie beyond. Risky as it is to highlight only a couple of exciting subjects, it is merely meantto whet the appetite for further reading.
