High Pressure Pumps

Book Description

High Pressure Pumps provides a look into recent experience and research to help engineers, scientist and end users to understand the technical side of pumps, nozzles and accessories that have been developed for special applications. High pressure system design with formulas to calculate pressure drop, orifice size, cleaning paths, horsepower, torque and trouble shooting that may not be found in any other single book are included.High pressure pumps and systems are used in shipbuilding, steel mills, automotive plants, research, petrochemical and water jetting industries. This book covers high pressure pumps used in water jetting, cryogenics, hot fluid pumping, chemical pumping and oil field services. The development of 10,000 psi to 40,000 psi pumps over the lat 30 years is covered along with the auxiliary hardware needed to do surface preparation, high pressure cleaning and water jet cutting.* Goes a step further than manufacturer's manuals and to explore applications and system design* Only book on the market that covers this technology from installation to management* Need to know reference for operating high pressure pumps

High-capacity Low- and High-pressure Pol Pumps

Book Description

This Technical Information Report describes the developmental and interrelated high-capacity low-pressure flood and transfer POL pump unit and high-capacity high-pressure POL pump unit. Both units are compatible with Army 12-inch high-pressure welded and low-pressure coupled POL pipeline systems. In order to operate, the high-pressure unit must have the low-pressure unit supply a 40- to 60-psi initial suction pressure. Each pump has a primary power source. As a transfer pump the low-pressure unit is to be installed at tank farms and as a booster pump in ship-to-shore POL pumping operations. The high-pressure unit is to be used at tidewater POL terminals and can be used along 12-inch cross-country pipeline systems. The dimensions and weight of the low-pressure unit have not been determined. The high-pressure unit, which is to weigh no more than 70,000 pounds, is about 32 feet long, 11 feet high, and 8 feet wide. In a multiple booster pump arrangement, 6 of the low-pressure units will do the work that now requires 112 standard 2-stage 8-inch pump units with no increase in the present 8-man operating crew. The low-pressure unit is in the early stages and the high-pressure one in the final stages of development. (Author).

Centrifugal Pumps

Book Description

Centrifugal Pumps describes the whole range of the centrifugal pump (mixed flow and axial flow pumps are dealt with more briefly), with emphasis on the development of the boiler feed pump. Organized into 46 chapters, this book discusses the general hydrodynamic principles, performance, dimensions, type number, flow, and efficiency of centrifugal pumps. This text also explains the pumps performance; entry conditions and cavitation; speed and dimensions for a given duty; and losses. Some chapters further describe centrifugal pump mechanical design, installation, monitoring, and maintenance. The various types and applications of pumps in the light of the particular design features involved are addressed in other chapters. This book is authoritative, informative, and thought-provoking to an exceptional extent. It establishes a notable advance in the progress of the art of the designer and manufacturer of centrifugal pumps, to the material advantage of the user.

Industrial High Pressure Applications

Book Description

Industrial high pressure processes open the door to many reactions that are not possible under 'normal' conditions. These are to be found in such different areas as polymerization, catalytic reactions, separations, oil and gas recovery, food processing, biocatalysis and more. The most famous high pressure process is the so-called Haber-Bosch process used for fertilizers and which was awarded a Nobel prize. Following an introduction on historical development, the current state, and future trends, this timely and comprehensive publication goes on to describe different industrial processes, including methanol and other catalytic syntheses, polymerization and renewable energy processes, before covering safety and equipment issues. With its excellent choice of industrial contributions, this handbook offers high quality information not found elsewhere, making it invaluable reading for a broad and interdisciplinary audience.
