Some are successful in portrait painting, others are good water colorists; some are devoted to china painting, while not a few are versed in all branches of the art. Pencil drawing and needlework were taught in the early days of the Academy and the number of pupils who have done good artistic work after leaving school is so great that anything like adequate mention of them is simply impossible. In our own city the success achieved by Miss Maria L. McMickin in the difficult art of portraiture is too well known to require any note from us. Mrs. Estella K. Kaley enjoys a wide reputation for original designing and has won many prizes at exhibitions where her work has been shown. She is expert in the details of china decoration and her exquisite figure painting receives the highest encomiums. Recently she has worked in collaboration with the celebrated artist, Bischoff. Miss Anna MacNaughton has devoted much time to the study of art and is especially successful in painting scenes from nature. Students in her classes at the Y. W. C.
