One item, 1785, broadside announcing an organizational meeting to constitute a company "consisting of one thousand shares" "for opening the communication between Santee and Cooper Rivers by a canal and locks from or near Cool's Landing, through Greenland Swamp to Biggin Bridge," listing names of those participating with space for "subscribers". Contains the names of company members including Richard Hutson, Major Mitchell, Major Vanderhorst, Colonel Grimke, William Bull, John Dawson, Alexander Rose, Judge Pendleton, John Rutledge, Mr. Loocock, Thomas Bourke, Jesham Moore, Thomas Jones, Daniel Bourdeaux, and Captain James Mitchell.
