Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (汉语水平考试) Level 1 test, also known as HSK 1, requires mastering a mix of about 150 Chinese characters and words (字词). These are some of most basic, yet the most frequently used Chinese characters. The biggest challenges for the beginners' students of Mandarin Chinese would be to recognize these characters in the given contexts. In the HSK Level 1 book series, you will be exposed to all these 150 Chinese characters. Each book contains about 15 new Chinese characters from the HSK Level 1 test syllabus. At long last the approach that has helped thousands of learners memorize Japanese kanji has been adapted to help students with Chinese characters. Book 1 of Remembering Simplified Hanzi covers the writing and meaning of the 1,000 most commonly used characters in the simplified Chinese writing system, plus another 500 that are best learned at an early stage.
