The Tooth Fairy

Book Description

In the business and labor worlds of Lancaster, PA, Harry Greene and Pete Werner appear to be at the very top of their games. Greene owns the largest factory in the county. Werner runs the toughest Teamster local. But Greene has been living a nightmare for the past ten years, while Werner often has to force himself to go to work. THE TOOTH FAIRY tells the story of these two men, drawn together by a senseless prank gone awry. A drunken motorcycle ride by a member of Werner's union through the inside of Greene's factory leaves a beloved watchman fighting for his life. At the same time it leaves Greene face to face with his nightmare, and Werner face to face with his own moral dilemma. Jake Hart, the author, was a labor lawyer for twenty-seven years before becoming a federal judge. During his career, he represented major industries from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh, and handled hundreds of labor arbitrations, contract negotiations and union elections. THE TOOTH FAIRY is an accurate portrayal of labor-management relations in every detail.

I Am From...

Book Description

I am from is a compilation of student poetry, written by students from several schools within the Peel District School Board from grades 4-8. This book was inspired by an Identity unit, where as a component, my grade 8 class created "I Am From" poems. The diverse voices highlighted through these poems were refreshing - like a little "Chicken Soup for the Soul". With the voice of diversity so pronounced, it seemed fitting to support our newcomers by dedicating one hundred percent of the proceeds from this book toward providing backpacks for newcomers within the Peel District School Board. Presently, Peel is proud to be the fastest growing immigrant population in Canada. The idea was shared with other schools within our board, and the teachers and students responded to the opportunity, resulting in this "I am From..." compilation that we share with you today. Enjoy our stories...

The Danes have a word for the feeling of happy delight that you get from simple things in life: “hygge.” In I’m So Full of Happy Today: The Hygge Wisdom of Children you will explore many of the hilarious things kids say in our world today, like these quotes: Dylan, age 5, “Mom, did it hurt much when you gave birth to Daddy?” Keira, age 8, “Being in love is like having a birthday in your stomach.” Miley, age 3, “When I grow up, I want to be pregnant. Or a princess.” Jack, age 5, “Mom, how old were you when you were my age?” The latest in funny kids books: I’m So Full of Happy Today is a heartwarming collection of the remarkably observant, funny, and wise things said by children, aged two to ten years.
