I was a teenage T. Rex! Survival of the fittest has always been the rule at Wetherford Junior High. So when Bertram Phillips's science fair project sends his mind back 67 million years, he's well prepared. After all, as the class brain, he's learned how to avoid predators. But Bertram's not prepared for his new tanklike, spike-backed Ankylosaurus form. He's become a dinosaur--and so have three other fellow students. Mike, the star quarterback who's never had much of a killer instinct, must wrestle with the hunger pangs of a T. Rex. Candayce, the beauty queen, is forced to suffer the thunder thighs of a Leptoceratops, while the morose Janine now soars blissfully on the wings of a Pterodactyl. With prehistoric perils at every turn, Bertram, Mike, Candayce, and Janine band together to find their way back home in what were once their own back yards. Theirs is an amazing, wildly comical, and very human journey...through the Age of Dinosaurs.

The thrilling tale of America’s early paleontologists and the discovery of the first T. Rex fossil, now adapted for young readers. From the dust of the Gilded Age Bone Wars, two vastly different men emerge to fill the empty halls of New York’s struggling American Museum of Natural History: socialite Henry Fairfield Osborn and intrepid fossil hunter Barnum Brown. When Brown unearths the first Tyrannosaurus Rex fossils, Osborn sees a path to save his museum from irrelevancy. As the public turns out in droves to cower before this bone-chilling giant of the past and wonder at the mysteries of its disappearance, Brown and Osborn turn dinosaurs into a beloved part of culture. In this vivid and engaging young readers adaptation, New York Times best-selling author David K. Randall journeys from prehistory to present day, from remote Patagonia to the unforgiving Badlands of the American West to the penthouses of Manhattan. The Monster’s Bones reveals how a monster of a bygone era ignited a new understanding of our planet and our place within it.

T-Rex was a book I loved reading. I really liked Rex but I didn't like that they left him on the island, but I understand it was for his own good. It was very adventurous and the excitement was outrageous I really liked Heather Ann. She was sort of a heroine. I just loved the way she saves the pygmy and tries to take the mother with her. The reason I like Rex is because he was a prehistoric animal living today.By Jessie Catalano, 3rd grade - Nursery Road Elementary School -Columbia, SC., Jan 8th, 2002
