A review and analysis of States¿ policies regarding prenatal exposure to alcohol and other drugs, in order to help local, State, and Tribal governments: (1) Gain a better understanding of current policy and practice in place at the State level that addresses substanceexposed infants (SEIs); and (2) Identify opportunities for strengthening interagency efforts in this area. Assessed state policy on: prevention, intervention, identification, and treatment of prenatal substance exposure, incl. services for the infant, the mother, and the family. Reviewed States¿ policies regarding: prepregnancy prevention efforts; screening and assessment in the prenatal period; and the provision of services to SEIs and their parents after a CPS referral is made.
