Book Description
Excerpt from Injuries of the Spine and Spinal Cord: Without Apparent Mechanical Lesion, and Nervous Shock, in Their Surgical and Medico-Legal Aspects The favourable reception accorded to the first edition of this book both in our own country and abroad has called for a second edition so much sooner that I had ventured to hope, that although in preparing this edition I have subjected the work to thorough revision, I have been unable to make such additions to it as I had wished and contemplated. I have, however, availed myself of some valuable suggestions in the writings of those who, more especially in America, have been led by a perusal of the first edition to contribute to periodical literature their own experience upon the subjects dealt with in this book, and whose views I am glad to find very largely coincide with those which I have submitted to the profession. In its main feature the work remains unchanged, and my hope is that it may still be found to contain a trustworthy record of the various injuries and diseases which are caused most commonly, but by no means exclusively, by railway collision.
