Investigation of the Dependence of the Strength of Glass-reinforced Plastics on the Diameters of Reinforcing Fibers

Book Description

Laminated sheets were prepared by reinforcing unsaturated polyester resin PN-1 with 65 to 76 percent unwoven glass fibers embedded in a unidirectional arrangement. The modulus of elasticity of the fibers used was 30 to 5 percent higher than that of usual glass fibers. Ultimate tensile strength of the laminates slowly increases with increasing fiber diameter. The effectiveness of reinforcement expressed as the ratio of laminate strength to the strength of involved glass fibers increases steadily with increasing fiber diameter. (Author).

Bibliography on Fibers and Composite Materials--1969-1972

Book Description

The bibliography contains over 3000 references, including translated items from Japan, West Germany, U.S.S.R., and other countries as well as references of original English language publications of the United States and United Kingdom. The references are categorized by specific fiber and matrix materials. In addition, many references are grouped in the general categories of compatibility studies, theory and design, testing and evaluation, application, and fabrication. A group of references to general review articles is included. The references represent the holdings of the former Defense Ceramic Information Center (DCIC) plus those of the Fibers and Composites Center (FCIC) at Battelle's Columbus Laboratories and MCIC.
